Gayle was born in Regina, and educated in Regina, Saskatoon, and Ottawa. She lived and travelled extensively moving throughout Europe and Eastern Canada for over thirty years, returning to Saskatchewan in 1996. Her interest in landscape painting developed from exposure to Monet’s work and his Giverny Gardens, as well as from living in Belgium near where Van Gogh began his artistry. In 1998, Gayle chose the watercolour medium to capture the seasonal vistas of the nearby Qu’Appelle Valley, of Regina’s cityscape, and of interior still life. She has studied with Joan Scaglione M.F.A. Regina; Jack Anderson B.F.A., M.F.A. Cincinnati; Jack Reid C.S.P.W.C., Brampton ON: and Beth Gaffney, Christine Lynn, Elaine Seis, and Donna Kriekle, all of Regina. She participated in a closed workshop with Joe Fafard, O.C., S.O.M., M.F.A. She is a member of the Prairie Artists Guild. Her paintings are in private collections in Regina; Edmonton, Alberta; Sydney, Cobble Hill and Vancouver, B.C.; and in Arnprior, and Ottawa ON.
